More DAF stocking stuffers

By Jack Doyle, Amergent President & CEO

The waiting is in earnest now!

Many donor advised fund (DAF) donors took the suggested advice of the DAF sponsors—and YOU—and made their grant requests for 2019.

Now the checks are in the mail! Fidelity Charitable might be issuing over one million grants in December.

Why not take advantage of YOUR next step and prepare thank you letters that suggest what your donors can consider next—in the postscript, which is a very important part of the letter? (What? You don’t always have a P.S. in the thank you letter?!)

Well, consider some of these—which I have been getting in my thank you letters—in variations of the following:

P.S. Thank you for being a <pick your favorite word> donor. Have you thought about naming us as a beneficiary of your donor advised fund? It’s easy to do. Please let me know if you have already done it or if you plan to do it soon!

Favorite words to consider: special, loyal, generous, wonderful, compassionate.

Or

P.S. Thank you for being a <pick your favorite word> donor. Have you thought about using your donor advised fund to make recurring monthly grants? It’s easy to do. Please let me know if you have already done it or if you plan to do it, because <the DAF> doesn’t indicate to us that your intentions are to make the grant monthly. They will send it on time every month, but they don’t tell us you have made that choice. Popular recurring monthly gift amounts are $100 and $200.

Or

P.S. Thank you for being a <pick your favorite word> donor. Have you thought about using your donor advised fund to make a leadership gift for 2020? Leadership level giving begins at $1,000 and will make a huge impact for supporting those we serve.

Also, our next i-fund in 2020 will be about the “best of 2019.” If you have examples for consideration, please send them to information@amergent.com
